Whether you want to get tips on redecorating the kids bedroom or you want to discuss the pros and cons of reusable nappies this is the place to do it.

Below you will find a guide to discussing. Once you’re done head back to the discussion pages and if you still have any questions then please contact us on contact@daddiz.com.

Remember that your posts can be read by anyone on the internet so it is not advisable to include any personal email address or other personal data.

How do I discuss?

Anyone can read the discussion boards but to raise new discussions, or to respond to other users’ discussions, you will first need to sign up to Daddiz.com.

The discussion board is split into categories that have individual discussions sub categories within them.

The main categories are: Expecting a baby, at Home, fun time, kids health, diet and Fitness, Education and Child minding, Getting Invloved and In Your Area.

If you move the cursor over each of the main categories (without clicking your mouse) then a dropdown list of the discussion subcategories within them appear below each one.

It’s important to remember that most of the words that appear in blue on Daddiz.com are links to other parts of the Daddiz.com website. Therefore, you will notice that each of the main categories are links and also the sub categories in the dropdown lists. You can either click on the main category or any of the discussions below them.

If you click on any of the main categories you will be taken to the main page for that category where you will again see a list of all the individual discussions within it.

Wherever you click on an individual discussion sub category you will be taken to a page showing a list of posts already posted within that sub category

For example:

On the All Discussions page, if you move the cursor over the first category Expecting a baby a list of several discussion topics will appear below it. YOU CAN EITHER;

A. If you click on “Expecting a baby" you will be taken to the main “Expecting a baby" page. Hear you will see a list of discussion topics. The first of these is “Dad’s Role". Click on this and you will be taken to a new page showing a list of discussions within this topic.

OR ALTERNATIVELY,

Whilst still on the All Discussions page, if you move the cursor over the first category Expecting a baby a list of several discussion topics will appear below it. You will notice that the first of these will be Dad’s Role. If you move the cursor over it and click directly on this link you will be taken to the list of discussions within this topic.

The Discussion Topics pages show lists of discussions posted by Daddiz.com users and each discussion is shown on a different row.

Each row shows the following:

Icon: different icons show you whether the discussion contains new posts, no new posts, a hot topic with no new posts, a hot topic without new posts, sticky topics or locked topics.

Topic: The name of the Discussion, the Author, and when it was posted.

Replies: The number of responses the Discussion has received and whether there are any new posts to be read by the user.

Last Post: The username of the user that has made the last post on the discussion as well as the date and time.

As mentioned previously many items on a page will be links in blue text, therefore:

1) The name of any current discussions will be links to the full discussion. By clicking on it you will be taken to the full discussion where you can view the author’s entire original post as well as any responses to it. Once you have followed the link to the full discussion you will be able to post your own responses.

2) In the replies column if there are any new posts within the discussion topic you can click on the text and you will be taken to the text.

In addition, if you wish to post a new discussion topic you can click on the Add New Discussion Topic button at the top of the page and, as long as you are a signed up member of Daddiz.com and logged on, you will be taken to the “add a new discussion" page where you can start your own new topic (to avoid duplicates please ensure that this topic isn’t already being discussed on the within this category already.)

How will I know if there are new topics or posts?

New topics

When you first arrive on the Discussion Topics page all new topics will be tagged with “New" in red letters next to the topic title and the icon on the left will indicate that it has a new post.

The icon will change to “No new posts" and the word “New" will disappear only when you read the post or click on the “Mark as read" button above the topic lists.

New posts

All topics are listed in post order. That is, the topic with the latest post (which may even just be an updated comment) will be sown at the top of the page. The date, time and author of the post will show on the right hand side under the heading “Last Post".

All topics with new posts will be annotated with “Updated" in red letters.

The word “Updated" will disappear only when you have read the post or click on the “Mark as read" button above the topic lists.

Also there will be a note of the new post in the Replies column (see point 2 under How do I discuss.)

Can I sort the view of discussions?

On the discussion pages there is a list of headings at the top:

There are the following options:
View active Topics
View New Topics
View My Posts
View Unanswered Topics

You can click on the headings and view only the posts depicted by the headings.

Topic lists can be sorted by clicking on the headings Topics, replies, Last post or Discussion.

You can type a keyword in the blank text box (be it a title of a topic or a part of a discussion) and when you click on the “Search" button you will be taken to the Search page that will give you a list of all results.

If you wish to narrow your search further, for instance you may wish to search for only discussions as opposed to all content on the website, then you will be able to use the Advanced Search function. 2)Containing the phrase (that you type in the relevant box)
3)Containing none of the words (that you type in the relevant box)

You can also narrow your search by selecting a Discussion category from the scrolling list (you can select more than one category by holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and making multiple selections.

You may also search other content types (other than discussions) by selecting one or more of the checkboxes next to the content types.
